Honoring Those Who Honor Others

Dear friends,

There's an African proverb that goes: "If you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together." One of ElevateHer's values is working in partnership with those in the community in order to go far. Like the proverb asserts, the success of our work hinges on our ability of working with others. Trauma work cannot be done alone. Healing work cannot happen outside of a beloved community. That is why at this year's gala we are going to take intentional time to honor those that honor others. Our honorees have gone above and beyond to support the work of ElevateHer and the women we serve.

Shall I introduce you to them?

Pastor Caleb has worked tirelessly to make room for us to reach the women in the North of Haiti. Though he wears several hats in Haiti, including the Executive Director of Hosean International Ministries, he makes himself available to us and to elevate the women of Haiti.
Betty is our resident professor and trauma therapist whose gift expands beyond her therapeutic work.
Angie is the advocate we all need in our corner. Though she often works behind the scenes, her support to us has touched the women we serve in significant ways.
Anide is our  strategic leader and planner that ensures our plans are executed excellently so the women can get the most out of our programs.
Fresnel, my husband, is the practical support who will stop at nothing to ensure all of our needs are met. He's also our top fundraiser on the team to date.
Jennifer has served ElevateHer for many years on the ground when we were unable to be physically present. I can also say Jen has probably earned the equivalence of a trauma informed education certificate because of the years she spent alongside us in Haiti supporting our work.

Let's hear it for our honorees.

You can meet them and encourage them at this year's gala on March 9th.

There's also another proverb that I love from the Haitian culture that goes: "men anpil, chay pa lou". Meaning with many hands, the work is light. Our work would not be possible without our honorees and without the support of our donors. With all of our hands working together the work of empowering women so they can heal from trauma is much lighter. Continue to join us to go far.

There's still time for you to join us at this year's gala so we can join hands to help heal women, to heal the world.
